Looking Back in Time

Just outside the entrance to the Indian Creek area of Kentucky's Red River Gorge sits on old tobacco barn that bears traces of a slogan, "Elect Cook, Stop The Dam," that was the battle cry of folks who, back in the 1970's, let their voices be heard loudly enough to prevent the area from being flooded for the construction of a lake. Since that time, this 1950's vintage Farmall 'H' tractor has been retired and left standing as a relic of the days when Farmall tractors were the workhorses of farms all over the country. As a teenager, I drove one of these many times while pulling loads of hay and tobacco to the barn. Many of you can probably relate to these tractors as well, and can understand why this scene would inspire me to stop and photograph a memory from my farming past.
